ABOUT US.
My Name is Fiona and I am the owner of Funky Baby Boutique. My Journey started 5 years ago on local Market Stalls where I set up a bright vibrant stall full of baby clothes and accessories and sold these alongside my handmade nappy cakes. After a year I was offered the chance to open my own shop, and as this was something I had dreamed of for around 8 years, I finally decided the risk was so worth taking. I opened my first shop in a shopping precint that never really got very busy and trade wasnt good. I found myself ticking over but only just and I was determined not to get into any debt, so funded everything myself by going without and with support from my family. I Knew that i needed to move to a busier location and in 2016 I moved to Cosham High Street all be it the bottom of it, but it was a high Street with passing trafic, more of a chance to get noticed right ? I have struggled but enjoyed every minute of it with still no funding I built the shop up to be an Alladins cave of pretty much most things you would need if you were having a baby. The shop was warmly welcomed by all who found me and most that did became regular visitors and had nothing but praise for what I do. I feel very privileged to have met some beautiful people and some gorgeous babies. The struggle never really went away, with the move came much higher overheads and changes in peoples shopping habits meant days at the shop where I would open and not see a customer all day. I tried everything I could think of to make things work but the money coming in couldnt do everything bills were always paid, again to prevent debt and to keep going but stock was diminishing. I was so determined to achieve what i wanted to do and spent thousands of pounds on advertising and appearing in so many magazines and brochures and campaigns and newspapers and leaflet drops, the list is endless. In February this year 2019 my shop was sadly broken into and the thieves stole a substantial amount of stock, I knew that I wouldnt be able to recover from the break in but still tried my best. It left me very worried that it would happen again at some point and I didnt feel comfortable anymore in my shop. I decided to close the shop doors for good and take Funky Baby Boutique Online, and of course on social media. I am the team, I work alone from my home and my aim is to offer you an easy to use hassle free shopping experience, with options of buying something and then having it Personalised with Machine Embroidery or with vinyl. You can create a unique gift to give to a baby or child by just telling me what you would like put onto a product ie; baby vest, bib, hat etc, I will then work my magic to bring what you want to life.
I also handmake other items like some of the pictures below, Nappy cakes make a unique gift for any baby or toddler that still uses nappies, they are mostly given to New born babies or at baby showers I offer a selection that are suitable for boys or girls and prices start from just £10.00. Collection Only, I do not Post Nappy cakes due to their fragile nature.
Cake Smash or Birthday outfits are also made by myself, again you choose colours for tutu skirts and I will personalise the top with age name or whatever you want on it to make the perfect birthday outfit for your princess, and if its your prince that needs a Birthday Outfit to look the part, my handmade jam pants and top sets complete with braces bow tie and hat are sure to make him look too cute and party ready.
